What is Clubhouse?. The Clubhouse application suddenly became popular among internet users. Its popularity skyrocketed because it was used by the richest person in the world, Elon Musk.

But apparently, this application has been around since March 2020 and was launched by Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, Paul Davidson and Rohan Seth. As of May 2020, this application only has 1,500 users and a valuation value of USD 100 million (IDR 1.4 trillion).

Users can listen to chats, interviews and discussions on various topics. That said, Clubhouse is similar to a podcast but live and exclusive.

This exclusive is because Clubhouse users must get an invitation from friends who are already users. This means you cannot just download the application from the App Store and then create an account like any other social network.

You may have noticed a growing trend towards sound content in the social media space with Twitter recently introducing the ability to tweet audio content using iOS devices and Facebook Live audio failing to launch since 2017.

The clubhouse seems to have broken the code with its recent popularity. The company describes itself as "a new type of voice-based social project" where "people everywhere (can) talk, tell stories, develop ideas, deepen friendships, and meet interesting new people."

When users open the app, they can choose between different virtual "rooms" to enter. When you enter a room, the audio automatically turns on so you can enjoy a conversation.

The owner (in this case called the maker) of the room decides who can talk, and interested participants can raise their hand to join the discussion.

Currently, Clubhouse is an invite-only platform. This means you must be invited to join the platform by an existing verified user. And to add salt to the cut, it's only available to iPhone users and you should feel comfortable sharing your phone number with users who invite you to the platform.

Their website offers hope for those interested in joining: This means you must be invited to join the platform by an existing verified user.

Keep in mind, it's still unclear when people will be able to join without an invitation or how close they will be to releasing the Android app. IPhone users can download apps and order usernames without an invitation now without having access to the chat room.

The main feature that differentiates Clubhouse from other social media sites, such as Twitter, Facebook and others, is the audio-based format. There are several advantages to using the audio only feature. For starters, you don't have to worry about where you are, how your hair looks or the lighting in the room.

Second, the audio-only aspect allows your audience to multitask and doesn't require a strong signal like video-enabled social networks.
